Biography:
Dr. Kathi Harrington Gibson, a native of Richmond County, North Carolina, matriculated through the following universities: UNC-Chapel Hill (BA degree in English Education); UNC-Pembroke (MA Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision); University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC (Doctorate in the Philosophy of Educational Leadership; Cognate- School Social Work). Kathi’s professional career, which spans three decades, began as a public school English teacher, and evolved to: Assistant Principal, Principal, Educational Supervisor, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, and Superintendent of Schools.
The highlights of her professional career include professional accomplishments in Cumberland County, Fayetteville, North Carolina. From 1998-2003, Kathi served as an Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, and an Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instructional Programs. Continuing her professional career, Kathi was chosen as the Superintendent of Schools for Weldon City Schools and Northampton County Schools.
In 2008, Kathi retired from the superintendency and initiated her very own consulting business, which she calls K-Konsult International. Her consultations have ranged from: (a) International Teacher Recruitment, (b) School Age Specialist for After-School Programs across the state of NC, (c) Professional Development specialist for Day Care Centers, and (d) Mentorship of Principals in the state of South Carolina. Presently, Dr. Gibson spends her weeks mentoring curriculum staff. Kathi is an adjunct faculty member at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and teaches graduate level courses in the departments of Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction. Kathi resides in Fayetteville, NC.
