Dr. Maurice M. Gogarty


Biography:

Dr. Maurice M. Gogarty resides near Lake Pontchartrain in Slidell, Louisiana. His work requires frequent relocation. Dr. Mo holds several accredited degrees; a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration from Columbia College; a Master of Science (MS) in Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana University; and a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from Walden University.

Dr. Mo currently serves as Senior Appraiser and Project Supervisor for the City of Detroit, Michigan’s 2016 property reassessment program. He holds a State Certified General advanced professional appraisal designation and earned a senior designation (IFAS) from the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. Dr. Mo is a former assessor.

A keen interest in the social and economic impact that Hurricane Katrina had on New Orleans, Louisiana, along with a failed governmental response to provide humanitarian services, led to a doctoral study entitled, First Responder Volunteer Aviation Pilot Shortages in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The primary goals of the research were to explore ways for a more proactive, streamlined, and targeted response to future catastrophes, and bring increased awareness about volunteer pilot incapacities.
